European Beech Whitish to reddish brown, straight-grained wood with
small grey flecks and light mineral coloring and streaking. Beech is a strong wood with a density that is similar to maple.
Alder Reddish-brown to pale yellow wood with soft, straight grain, even texture, and a subtle figure. Alder will have small knots, under ¼” diameter, and backs of doors and drawer fronts.
Maple Hard Maple is a heavy, straight-grained wood with a fine texture. The sapwood is white and selected for its light color. Finishes very well. Some of the figured woods will show variable levels of penetration.
Red Oak Red oak is a straight-grained hardwood with a coarse texture and a pinkish-red hue. The texture of the wood varies according to the rate of growth. Knotty Oak is available upon request at no upcharge.
White Birch Off white color, medium density, fine texture, straight grain. Similar but not as consistent in color as Maple, good base for solid color finishes, accepts stain unevenly; mottles. Not recommended for darker stains.
Cherry Durable, moderately-strong hardwood with reddish-brown
hue, straight grain, & fine texture. Cherry may have brown flecks, gum pockets, and pin holes. Cherry darkens with age and exposure to light.
Hickory/ Pecan Pecan wood is enhanced by its fine-grained beauty, strength, and durability. Uses include paneling, cabinetry, furniture and veneer.
Genuine Mahogany Mahogany is fine to medium texture, with uniform to interlocking grain, ranging from straight to wavy or curly. Irregularities in the grain often produce highly attractive figures such as fiddleback or mottle.
Walnut Walnut is a tough hardwood of medium density, with moderate bending and crushing strengths and low stiffness. It has a good steam-bending classification. Beautiful specie, used in fine cabinetry.
